What is a favorite memory you have from your time at Midtronics?

AP team got together in one of the AP countries a couple of times in the past. We had great meetings and fun time experiencing different cultures, food and popular events in a country.

What personal accomplishment at Midtronics are you most proud of?

AP team established good Midtronics positions in the major countries such as China, Japan, India, Thailand. Most of major customers in AP are using Midtronics tools

Tell us about your role at Midtronics.
I am managing Asia Pacific business, market and team

How do you like to spend your time when you are not at work?

Playing guitars, learning music, reading books and dreaming to do surfing again that I used to do a lot when I was in Japan

What are your hobbies?

Playing guitar, Swimming (being ready for surfing in the future!), reading books

Where were you born/raised?

I was born and raised in Japan

Do you like movies?  What kind?  What is/are your favorite(s)?

I am currently into Korean dramas/movies. There are a lot of fun and great movies. I recently watched US drama “Designated Survivor”. I liked it as well. 

Do you like music?  What kind?  What is/are your favorite(s)?

Yes. Blues, Jazz. My guitar hero is Robben Ford whom I accidentally met and talked at Narita Airport a couple of years ago. That was a huge surprise!

There are too many to list, but a few would include: anything involving Karl Schraegle, the “no pen” story—ask Sweeney, the “dropped pop” story—ask Paul, and this one: Flying to Bend, Oregon to provide technical training for Les Schwab. I was able to get to Portland, but the next leg of the flight was cancelled due to weather. I put call into my contact at Les Schwab. He said “let me get back with you in a few minutes.” He called back and said “we’re sending the private jet to come pick you up, it’ll be there in half an hour.” There was one other passenger on board that we had to drop off at another small airport before heading back to HQ and evidently, we both had a red suitcase. The wrong one was given to him from the luggage storage so I was stuck with the clothes I was wearing. Word made it out to the Les Schwab technical team that I didn’t have a change of clothes and despite buying new duds that evening, my nickname with those folks to this day, is “Stinky…”

How do you like to spend your time when you are not at work?

When my oldest son turned 2 or 3, it really hit me how quickly time flies by so I’ve really made it a point over the last decade to spend as much time with my family as possible. For me that doesn’t mean a week long vacation once a year, but more of getting involved in things that my children and wife enjoy on a daily basis, which means anywhere from a bike ride with my wife kids around the neighborhood, sports with the boys or a tea party with my daughter and her dolls (yes, I’m that dad).

What are your hobbies?

I used to be very involved in restoring old motorcycles but as life has gotten busier with my family, I haven’t had a project in a couple of years now. My oldest son is on the Geneva Travel Baseball team so I’ve coached him for the last 3 years, which is a commitment of roughly 6 months for the season with games or practice at least 3 times a week. I also coach basketball and football for both of my sons. My 4-year-old daughter was insistent on my taking a more active role in her ballet classes but unfortunately COVID shut those down—darn…

Do you like music?  What kind?  What is/are your favorite(s)?

Well, science has proven that music attained perfection on July 21st, 1987 with the release of Guns N’ Roses Appetite for Destruction so I’m a huge GnR fan and love 80’s hair bands in general. My wife listens to a lot of country and has gotten me pretty well hooked over the last couple of years, as Alan Jackson wrote—I’ve “Gone Country”

McRib washed down with a Busch Light.

What is something you think other people would be surprised to know about you?

I was back-to-back Geneva Karaoke Idol champion in 2015 and 2016

What is a favorite memory you have from your time at Midtronics?
I love my Service family!  I was blessed and lucky for the time I got to spend with them and I enjoy every opportunity I get to hang out with them.  It’s like going back to the old neighborhood after you’ve moved away – full of fond memories, and it holds a special place in your heart even though you aren’t there anymore.

What personal accomplishment at Midtronics are you most proud of?
I love being a part of anything that “takes shape” and actually becomes something.  It’s exciting to see ideas become reality.

What are your hobbies?
I don’t know if it’s a hobby, but around town (Hometown, IL) I am an “MC” for a few events and car shows.  I get on a microphone and “host” various charity events.  I am the MC at our local car show on Wednesday nights and I’ve even got a few regulars who shout out along with me “Hiya hiya hiya Hometown!  Welcome to Hometown Cruise Night!”

Do you have any pets?
In our home, Boo is our 16 year old “scrappy mutt” who belongs to Renee.  My 2 young rescue pups, Diesel and Chance were recently adopted by my parents and it’s been so beneficial for all of them.  The 2 pups are spoiled rotten by grandma and grandpa and get all the love and attention they can stand – the 2 pups also help to keep my parents active and bring them so much joy!  Diesel is a little fella who thinks he’s huge!  In reality he weighs 8lbs and is the size of a loaf of bread. Chance is a 20lb “Picasso” Chihuahua with striking blue eyes who is very affectionate, extremely smart and a great big brother to Diesel the troublemaker. I still consider them to be MY boys.

What is your favorite childhood memory?
Saturday Morning Cartoons!  I remember we had a TV that had a dial to turn the channels.  I was the youngest and up the earliest, but I wasn’t “strong enough” to turn the dial.  I’d have to wake my older brother up to do it for me!  He hated it – he did it for me – but he absolutely hated it!  

Do you like music?  What kind?  What is/are your favorite(s)?
I love music – all genres just like movies.  I seem to be hearing to a lot of Patsy Cline and Def Leppard randomly on my Pandora lately…  wonder what THAT’S about?

I really like movies. I like all genres.  I’ve been watching a lot of documentaries lately.

What is your favorite food?
t’s really hard to pick a favorite… I really love trying new things.  I love Asian and Indian food, although I’m still a novice. I’ve enjoyed Ethiopian food, Senegalese food, but I’m just as thrilled with a really good steak or pasta dish.

​The team effort.  In my previous jobs a lot of pressure to complete tasks or solve problems was placed on individuals with limited support.  Midtronics encourages working as a team which has helped me not only complete tasks but it helps me get a broader perspective on ways of looking at problems and engaging customers. 

​What is a favorite memory you have from your time at Midtronics?

My favorite memory is from the 2016 AAPEX when the whole MDX team watched Game 7 of the World Series together.  I had always wanted to watch the Cubs win the World Series with my family so it was hard not to be home.  But being with the MDX team made it very special. 

​What personal accomplishment at Midtronics are you most proud of?

I am very proud of being a part of the teams working with the Retail customers and the successes we have accomplished so far like the JDT deployments at Advance and Walmart. 

​How do you like to spend your time when you are not at work?

When I am not at work I am with my family mostly taking my kids to activities and sports.  I also enjoy watching the Cubs, Blackhawks, Bears and Iowa football

​What are your hobbies?

Before kids I used to play softball, volleyball, golf and bowl.  Now I am (happily) a kid taxi.  

​Do you have any pets?

We have three cats.  Penny, Bolt and Moon.

​Do you like movies?  What kind?  What is/are your favorite(s)?

Most people know that I am a huge Science Fiction and Action Movie fan.  I love Star Wars, Star Trek, The Fast and Furious movies and all of the Marvel Movies.  Top movie of all time…The Empire Strikes Back. 

Do you like music?  What kind?  What is/are your favorite(s)?

I enjoy rock music.  My favorite bands are Def Leppard, U2, Train and Imagine Dragons. 

What is your favorite food?

Dessert.  I am not very picky about what kind. 

​What is something you think other people would be surprised to know about you?

During the COVID-19 home confinement, I have started to sketch again in my free time.
